Yuletide 2020 Letter
Oct. 28th, 2020 06:58 pmHello there, friend! My apologies for not having this up sooner. Life happened and had a brief Covid scare, so didn’t get a chance to write a letter before the signups closed. Honestly thought it was too late to change anything.
But it’s not and you’re here! You have my thanks~
Please feel free to use anything here as a springboard for ideas, but don’t feel you’re locked in by them. I have my favorite tropes and characters of course, but I’m honestly open to and appreciative of most anything, long as it’s a story from the heart. 💕 Any rating or length is welcome. And if you feel further inclined, you can also check out my AO3 account to get more ideas of what I like.
So, without further ado.
General Preferences & Themes
Alternate universes (modern characters in fantasy settings or vice versa). Character studies and introspective one-offs. Struggles of identity or belonging. Struggles of purpose and control in one's life. Found family. Sibling bonds. Magic and magical realism. Past lives and reincarnation. Bittersweet or angsty tone/mood. Grief and recovery.
Do Not Wants
Smut (I love it, just not what I'm looking for this go 'round). Pure fluff/romance (I don't generally mind light romance/shipping, but would prefer not to see it as the main focus of the story). Holiday-focused anything (Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.). Crossovers. 1st-person POV. Incest, implied or otherwise (including adopted/step-siblings). Underage. Rape/Non-Con. Explicit self-harm.
Seven Kingdoms Trilogy
Favorite Characters
Katsa, Po, Bitterblue
Favorite Relationships
Katsa/Po (platonic or romantic, I just adore them together), Katsa & Bitterblue (sisterly)
Prompts
Bitterblue coming into her own as queen yet still reflecting on the impact of her kingdom's past, her own past. Katsa reflecting on how much she's taken control of her own life and happiness, after breaking free from her uncle. Po in his youth/early years, dealing with the weight of hiding his Grace; the desire yet dread of mingling with his family and people yet always feeling separate and apart somehow, because of a power outside his control.

Favorite Characters
Alex, Jonas, Clarissa
Favorite Relationships
Alex & Jonas, Alex & Clarissa (especially if it's strained, like a "we used to be friends and now we're kinda not but are" way if that makes sense?)
Prompts
Honestly, I love most of all the idea of all the characters still feeling echoes of/dealing with the repercussions of the time loops in their own ways. Ideas of them post-game canon returning to their regular lives before another loop kicks in, aware of it or parts of previous timelines subconsciously. Or being fully aware and dreading a reset; learning to live with the inevitable reset.
Alex and/or Clarissa post-Michael's death, how they acted (or acted out) in the months that followed as a way to cope. Learning how to swim again and not fearing the water or memory of what happened. Alex and Clarissa on the beach post-canon, watching their friends swim but refusing to themselves, for obvious reasons; feeling a touch of solidarity in that moment.
Jonas and imposter syndrome, feeling like he's taking a spot in Alex and the others' lives that wasn't meant for him. Missing his own mother and adjusting to his step-mom. How he felt when he settled into Michael's old room with his things.
Transistor
Favorite Characters
Red, Boxer, Asher, Royce,
Favorite Relationships
Red/Boxer (platonic or romantic), Asher/Grant, Asher & Sybil (literally best friends since birth in my eyes), Royce/Sybil (one-sided, demi/a-spec on Royce's side, because I project like a motherfucker and have been here too many times to count), Royce & Asher (because I don't think I've seen many stories focusing on their friendship).
Prompts
Similar struggle with repeating time/recursive loops. Anything with any of the Camerata (pre-canon) grappling with the morality of their actions, with meeting and befriending different citizens under false pretenses before integrating them into the Transistor. Anything to flesh out other characters within the Transistor; their times before meeting the Camerata, their come ups, their defining moments or memories in life.
Red and survivor's guilt. Boxer being a habitual lone-wolf yet still folding himself within the city, mingling with its people, learning it and loving it, inside and out and flaws and all. Alternate universes where the characters lead normal lives in another city but have some subconscious inkling of a past life, in Cloudbank.
And what exactly is the Country, anyway?
